This is the first narrative film I've directed. While in isolation with my husband, he developed COVID-19 symptoms and we couldn't access testing right away. We decided to take proper precautions and put him into isolation from myself and our pets. Going into quarantine has been a bizarre adjustment but this moment in time that we shared was very surreal and very scary. At the same time, the nationwide cheering for our frontline workers began. For the ten days that we remained separated, going out and cheering in gratitude was the only other physical contact I had. I cried every night in grief and in gratitude as my husbands symptoms improved. This is a small snapshot of that experience. I opted for natural light and still frames for authenticity and to reflect the loneliness and stillness of those days. I still wave to my neighbors every night. I don’t know whether they have noticed or not, but I am grateful they are there and that we cheer together every night.
