Marvin Bugalu Smith, is an American free jazz drummer. At the age of two starts to play drum under the supervision of his brother Buster, 18 years older. Then, he followed his masters' steps: Elvin Jones, Max Roach and Philly Joe Jones. During his career he played with great jazz personalities like Sun Ra, Archie Shepp and many others. In September 2017 Bugalu came to Italy for a short tour. In the lapse of a drum solo we had the chance to listen him talking about jazz, time in music, and what it means teaching music and being a student nowadays.
