Mavis Arnaud Fruge is an international legend in the Louisiana French speaking communities surrounding her home town of Arnaudville, LA. Eleven years ago she began La Table Française d'Arnaudville. Her goal - to preserve and restore Louisiana French to its rightful place. The reason her French Table has been so successful has been her understanding that all French, whatever the dialect you speak – is good French! She delights in hearing new “old” words and her passion is infectious. Mavis collects awards as easily as friends. Her efforts were brought to the attention of the French Consulate in New Orleans and as a result was awarded the 2015 Ordre des Palmes Academiques - recognized as one of the highest cultural distinctions offered by France to non citizens and in 2016 the Acadiana Memorial Foundation Board Living Legend Award . As she says: “Come on Join Us!”
