I love that the climax of the film was both a great punch line and a scathing review of how technology can sometimes get in the way of the very thing we want. All dude had to do was continue talking to the girl in front of him, but he instead figured it would be better to take a chance on a cyber-date he might not ever meet. I love it!
Astonishing! It is equally as tragic as it is laugh-out-loud funny. I couldn't think of a more accurate snapshot of Generation Y, from the individualism portrayed at the beginning down to the techno-social existentialism at the end. I especially enjoyed the use of sound. All we are given as a window into the character's world is emotive music, the protagonist's laugh, and the chiming of devices. The dialogue is surprisingly effective despite being written in the form of glances. I regret to say it, but this is the contemporary experience of youthful romance captured in 3 minutes.
