Markabees is the first 100% biodegradable sporting clay in the marketplace. This project was born out of a class from Montana State University called Farm to Market. In this class, groups of students were partnered with local farmers and businesses to create and brand an added value product from a waste stream. This product use the only known bee waste, slumgum, and oat husk waste, along with water, alcohol, chalk, and wild flower seeds to create an eco-friendly, soil-fertilizing food source for bees and the local ecosystem. It is still developing, but so far, the Markabees sporting clays have been shown to retain the shape of a mold, to hold together when projected from a thrower, and to shatter upon impact. As it develops further and the recipe is refined, this product is sure to overtake the market as the more eco-friendly, earth sustaining choice.
