Wanting a change and a seat at the table, Black Women across America, like Jahana Hayes and Ayanna Pressley, mobilized across America to run for office and used their positions to change the political climate. While they are a powerful force, these formidable Black Women didn’t necessarily have the support of the status quo Democratic Party. The documentary film Grabbing Back (working title) shines a light on these trailblazing African American candidates and the galvanized voters who got off the sidelines to be heard, in the hopes of shifting the Trump trajectory after grabbing back the house in the 2018 midterm elections.
It was an honor to produce and direct this timely documentary.
