The documentary MERE (Mother) was shot in Thiaroye Sur Mer, Senegal. The initial idea was to document the migratory movement from Senegal to Europe from the African point of view. That was my second trip to the city and this time I spent two months there. I like to spend time researching in order to get closer to the people and topics. This helps me to tell the stories with greater respect and dedication, I use the same process with narrative and documentary. The first day researching in Dakar, I found this association of women who gather and fight together to overcome their sons lost. I was very amazed by their power and love so I told them about the film and we decided to do it all together.
