Carsten Kurpanek was born and raised in Germany and moved to Los Angeles in 2007 to pursue a career in film. He started as an assistant editor on films such as "Machine Gun Preacher", "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo", and "World War Z" while editing shorts on the side. In 2012 Carsten made the jump to feature editor with the drama-thriller "Squatters", starring Gabriella Wilde, Luke Grimes, and Richard Dreyfuss. He also co-edited the indie drama "Fort Bliss", starring Michelle Monaghan, the sci-fi kids adventure film "Earth To Echo", and "Kickboxer: Vengeance" with Jean-Claude Van Damme. His latest project, the remake of "Benji", is going to be released in March as a Netflix Original. Carsten is the Co-Director of the annual American Cinema Editors' internship program, created to help recent college graduates to get their foot in the door of post-production in Hollywood.
