A video contest for University of Montana Business School students

Admit it. There’ve been times you thought you could do it better than your boss.

Dean Shook, the dean of the UM SoBA, was brave enough to actually give his students a chance. Hopefully, that’s what they’ve learned to do at UM SoBA: to run complex organizations, become CEOs, COOs or academic deans. Here’s their chance.

In October, Dean Shook threw down the gauntlet and asked his students to submit an application explaining why they should be chosen to trade places with him for a day. That’s right – trade places.

On November 28, 2016, from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., one lucky student will experience running a complex organization for the day. In turn, Dean Shook will be thrown back into B-school, spending his day attending that student’s classes and activities.

That alone should prompt you to like Dean Shook (MontanaBusinessDean) and UM_SoBA on Facebook.

Out of those applications, five finalists were chosen. These lucky five have been asked to submit 30- to 60-second videos explaining TO YOU their reasons for wanting to Freaky Friday with Dean Shook. Their deadline is November 7, 2016, and the videos will be online from November 8 to November 15, 2016, so fellow students, alumni, and faculty can vote for the best candidate.

The lucky student will be notified November 18, 2016, and they’ll take the reins just 10 days later, while Dean Shook spends his day as a “nontraditional student.”
