Audience Awards values fiction film shorts

In 1974, the Academy Awards first recognized short fiction films as a worthy category. While many Audience Awards contests accept scripted shorts, we’ve never distinguished this category unto itself until now. (Sorry it took us so long.)

If you’ve made a film, 30 minutes or under, which falls under the many definitions of “Live Action” - narrative film which is not documentary and not animated, adaptations of animated cartoons or comic books, use of puppets or a film in which animation and “real” actors coexists - this is the right festival for you.

We also seek short films shot in 360. If you submit a 360 video, be sure to mark that your video is 360 when you upload your film.

Filmmakers from around the world are invited to submit to the Audience Awards 2017 Live Action Shorts Film Festival and give over 170,000 film fans the chance to view and vote. Films chosen will also be judged by an elite panel of jurors who are experts on the impact live action film has in today’s film market.

The top three final jury winners will screen at the 2018 Audience Awards Film Festival in Los Angeles and compete for the Best of Fest Audience Award.

ABOUT THE CINEMATIQ PRIZE: Cinematiq - gives the winner gives the top jury selected film a free lifetime license to DCP Transfer Software by Cinematiq + a 50% discount on DCP creation. Worth up to $550. 

HOW THE WINNERS ARE DETERMINED: From the first round, the top three audience-voted and the top three in-house jury-selected entries will move on to the finals round to be judged by an esteemed panel of industry jurors. Along with other prizes listed below, the top three final jury winners will screen at the 2018 Audience Awards Film Festival and compete there for the audience award. Winners will be announced on Nov 15th, 2017!
