Are you an HBCU film student or alumni? If yes, REVOLT is looking to spotlight your short films 5-40 min told through the Hip Hop culture lens or Black Excellence. Winners will have their film streamed on REVOLT'S Short & Fresh short film franchise.
Call to Action:
For four seasons, REVOLT's Short & Fresh has spotlighted rising filmmakers making dope short films. Now, for this special episode, REVOLT wants to focus the spotlight on current and past HBCU students changing the game - one film at a time. Up to 10 films will be paid $50 per minute and will air on REVOLT's Short & Fresh HBCU Edition. Winners will also be asked to submit a pro res copy of their short film as well as a spotlight video of themselves.
Any genre or format (short narratives, animation, docs, etc) is acceptable as long as they are told through the Hip Hop culture lens or Black Excellence. Films should be between 5-40 minutes in length.
Prizes for winning films:
- Up to 10 winning short films will receive a non-exclusive television and VOD distribution deal and will premiere in REVOLT's Short & Fresh: HBCU Edition.
- The winners will receive a payment prize based on film duration ($50 USD per minute of content with a 5-minute minimum and a 40-minute maximum).
- The winning films will also be screened at an upcoming REVOLT event sponsored by Xfinity.
What is Short & Fresh?
Short & Fresh is REVOLT’s short film program. Each monthly installment features dope short films from a diverse range of rising filmmakers across all genres (comedy, drama, action, suspense, musical, thriller, experimental, art house, etc.). Episodes premiere on the REVOLT television network and are featured on REVOLT’s On Demand platform, and filmmakers are promoted within the program, on REVOLT's streaming app, and on social media.
