In February of 2016, Brooklyn-based bluegrass guitar player Michael Daves released a double album called 'Orchids and Violence.' The one-of-a-kind album features different versions of the same songs played in two very distinct styles: the first disc is bluegrass while the second is raw electric. This documentary follows Daves as he records both discs, the first in a church in Park Slope, Brooklyn with a band of well-known bluegrass musicians, and the second in Michael's home studio with his wife and bass player, Jessi Carter. It also takes viewers along for the three New York City release shows that each featured two sets, bluegrass in the first and electric in the second. Get up close and personal with Michael as he tells the story of 'Orchids and Violence,' a totally unique album that features two very distinct sides of a musician at the top of his game.
