The Coral Gardeners of Petit St. Vincent

A coral restoration project aims to restore the reefs by growing and replanting coral on the remote island of Petit St. Vincent in the Grenadines, the Eastern Caribbean. The Philip Stephenson Foundation and CLEAR Caribbean have partnered with local staff and communities to work on raising Elkhorn corals, restore reefs, and protect marine life, giving nature a chance to recover. Involving local people and communities in the process, inspires action and drives support for broader marine conservation measures. It also helps bring about a heightened appreciation for marine resources as a cornerstone of coastal resilience and adaptation. This films shows the beginnings of a program that will grow and can be replicated by others on the surrounding islands. This sort of initiative doesn't just contribute to marine conservation, coastal resources management and sound environmental stewardship, but it is also an education and community building mechanism.
