Logline: A girl tries to end her life only to be saved by a lonely vampire. "Grounding the Vampire Genre" (Director's Statement): What if vampires were real? What would their day-to-day lives, their routine be like? What would it entail? Or looking at the bigger picture, what would it be like to live as an immortal, unbounded from the dimension of time? Our goal is nothing less than the reinvention of the vampire horror-fantasy genre. We take for granted that the tropes of the wooden stake to the heart, the damsel-in-distress, the intertribal wars between vampires, or between werewolves, or [insert monster here], have run its course and that a fresh take is sorely desired. That fresh take is to inject a sense of realism into what has been (in recent years) a progressively unrealistic genre. Call it a “Nolanesque” approach to fantasy. Status of Production: Sweetblood is a feature film that is currently in production. We have already shot a number of key scenes for the movie (some of which you see in our trailer) and we are currently looking for additional financing to finish the film.
