SPIRAL is an intimate portrait of life in isolation. As one day bleeds into the next, as days turn to weeks and weeks turn to months, it becomes harder and harder to tell maladaptive daydreaming from reality. Sleep is the only solace.

These unusual times have been a blessing for some, a nuisance for others, but a curse for those of us suffering from depressive disorders. It’s estimated that 16.2 million adults in the United States (or 6.7%) have had at least one major depressive episode in a given year. As imperative as these pandemic measures might be, it's perhaps even more important that we talk about how they are affecting our mental health, so we may understand who we will be when we emerge.
