This video shows my short film "Garden of Eden," which I wrote and co-directed in 2017, as well as the first episode of the web series "Problematic," which I wrote and directed. GARDEN OF EDEN: Total run time: 32 minutes "Garden of Eden," is a coming of age film that follows "Jaliyah" (Anyanwu Uwa) as she tries to make sense of her life as a young, newly outed lesbian. Following an altercation with her father, the 17-year old is forced into homelessness just neighborhoods away. As Jaliyah’s identity evolves, a friendship with an unlikely sidekick grows, along with her disdain for religion, society, and cultural norms." This film was selected into the Creative Minds Short Film Corner Program and privately screened during Cannes Film Festival in May 2017. --- PROBLEMATIC: Total run time: 5 minutes 20 seconds "20 something’s Avery - a trans man struggling to shake free from a conflicted past - and their room mate Cali, - an over achieving queer/questioning woman - navigate their funny, awkward, and sometimes frightening experiences living in gentrified Harlem." The first season of "Problematic" is currently in production and will be streamed on SLAY TV.
