RESET - Rylee, a mixed-race teen descends into drug addiction while struggling with her difficult childhood. After entering treatment at a rehab facility, working through issues of identity both physical and emotional, Rylee learns recovery is a life-long process that holds no guarantees. RESET explores addiction and recovery. I wrote the story based on personal family experiences of a child dealing with with body image disorder. I wanted to give voice to women of color who deal with these challenges with very little resources. UNFINISHED - An East Indian mother's last will and testament proves a powerful catalyst, ultimately reconnecting her long-estranged African-American husband with their now fully-grown daughter. The complex interplay of miscegenation, parental obligation, and diaspora creates an intriguing meditation on modern-day identity and the need for intercultural and interpersonal reconciliation. While sorting through the details of her broken childhood, Raju finds the true meaning sacrifice and love.
