Hannah seems like a lovely girl. But as a member of the Duwamish Tribe I am dismayed. But utilizing Native icons and symbolism in her art is straight up cultural appropriation. I don't think that is her intent but use of these symbols encourages the dominant culture to forget Natives are modern, contemporary people struggling to overcome nearly 600 years of campaigns trying to wipe us off the map. If she is profiting off of this work in anyway then she is 100% appropriating Native culture and should take a good hard look at her true reasons for using Native symbolism.

What a great way to showcase both the talents of the filmmaker and the subject. Liked the pictures of nature and culture to reinforce the artist's genre. And, yes, she is definitely an artist.
