UNBOUND is an award winning short film that I wrote and directed while participating in the AFI Directing Workshop for Women in 2017. In turn-of- the-century Japan, a young girl sacrifices her freedom in order to save her ailing father by becoming a factory worker. Surrounded by fear and foes, she is soon entangled in an unexpected metamorphosis as she transforms into a silkworm. UNBOUND is based on the short story Reeling for the Empire from a New York Times Bestseller by Karen Russell. Director and Warrior is a short doc I made for a directing contest. I found the exercise a helpful tool that expresses who I am as a director and what stories I love to tell. I wrote and directed this as well as being on camera.
