Joseph is a political target in a dystopian American future whose ambition to cure a genetic disorder that kills everyone in his family too young put him at odds with an anti-science Congress. He returns to the U.S. after decades to face his fate, hoping to spend his last few years repairing the family relationships he left in tatters, but discovers that he must also embrace his new role as a father while rebuilding the family he wanted to save, but couldn't.
