In this six-minute film a Jewish Iranian-American woman enjoys her creative garden as she reminisces over her childhood memories and aspirations. After the 1979 Islamic Revolution many Iranians moved to various sections in Los Angeles, where they recreated communities leading dual lives enriched with the Iranian and American cultures. In the Garden presents a small window into the converging cultural identity of Iranian-Americans in Los Angeles. Azita Sachmechian opens her heart in her beautiful garden, inviting the viewers into her personal space. Azita’s story is a shining gem within the many wonderful narratives of immigrants in Los Angeles.
