This short film is an original story, made in the state of Nuevo León, México. This award-winning production has been an official selection at Mexican and international film festivals. Synopsis Mrs. Lucha, an old woman from a poor village, discovers a magical tree which blooms loaves of bread instead of fruits. Carried away by greed, she begins to sell the bread to the townsfolk, unleashing a story of envy and avarice in the small community. Director's Statement Through a little bit of fantasy, the short film El árbol (The Tree) is a microcosm, a brief look into what happens when a community lets avarice and greed put in danger the existence of something that could be beneficial to everyone.
