Director(s):

Racial and Gender discrimination have permiated this country since the Constitution was drafted.  There have been many roadblocks on the pathway to citizenship and both slavery and suggerage have been an impedement.  Having the distinction of grappling the duality of both, Black Women have always faced a double-layer of adversity.  Moreover, discrimination does not just rest within the framework of  didstict physical characteristics. Images, ideas and concepts that are culturally distinguishable are fodder for discrimination as well with Black Hair at the root of much of that anaysis.    Black hair represents cultural and religious significance, and can be an outlet for experimentation amidst all of the hardships that Black Women encounter in navigating through a eurocentric society.
