‘Chithrangada’ is the debut independent short film of Mr. Paul Yeldoz who has been working closely with the Indian industry since a few years. This short film deals with the conflicts and decisions of a young writer and the journey of the main character in the film has been inspired from a real life artist.
The film has been entitled as ‘Chithrangada’ with reference to the dance drama by Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore based on the love life of Manipur’s princess Chitrangada and Arjun, the third Pandava of the epic Mahabharata. Rabindranath Tagore took the basic story of Chitrangada from the epic and adapted it in his drama focusing on her emotional character transformation for the love of her life; making her the timeless, complete woman who personifies love, courage and substance. In the film, director is cinematically drawing a parallel with the transformation of Nandan (character name of the writer) due to his internal and worldly conflicts symbolizing him as a representation of freedom, bravery and character.
